Here’s some work I’m proud of.

Vox

It was such an honor to take over the host chair of Vox Conversations for a series of episodes with experts on topics I was super interested to learn about. I asked questions about how to save money (even when you don’t have much), how to make your workplace better for women of color, how to set better boundaries and how to incorporate activism into your life.

WNYC

From May until September of 2022, I had the honor of working on a show that I’ve loved since it came out, with one of the best teams in the business. As interim Executive Editor, I got to manage a transition on the team and address some topics that I really care about. Some (but not all!) of the episodes I am really proud to have worked on were:

Vox Media/Epic

Hosting and producing this 6-part narrative series was a career highlight for me! With a crack production team, I was able to do hardcore reporting and think deeply about structure and storytelling. My favorite thing about this series is how we pulled on threads that are super relevant right now — racism in tech, the complicated politics of VC funding, Silicon Valley’s exclusionary mentality —and put these historical events in a very current context. I guess my high school history teacher was right, everything old is new again, for better or worse 😬.

Working as a Senior Editor for this audio/video project at NPR was an absolute dream. Alongside an incredible team, we made an audio and video series that gave immigrants of color an opportunity to tell their stories on their terms. As a Brazilian-American who is somehow still confused if I “qualify” as an immigrant, this project and the feedback we’ve received on it has been truly special.

It was fascinating to edit this project alongside a team of superstars I’d always wanted to work with. With this project, I was able to ask my most far-fetched questions about the very concept of an apology while also helping guide the structure of the series. One of my favorite episodes tells the story of a serial abuser in three different decades, in two countries, while always centering the stories of the women he abused and bucking the trend of true crime that focuses on the perpetrator.
