I’m a journalist, story editor & professor.
I’ve been making podcasts for over a decade at places like WNYC, BuzzFeed News, NPR, Vox, iHeart and more. I love making work that surprises listeners, uplifts underrepresented voices and challenges existing power structures. I’m Brazilian-American, queer, gregarious and happy to meet you! My pronouns are she/her/hers.
Here’s what I’ve been up to lately:
Teaching
Being a professor is one of my biggest joys! I’m so excited to teach Media Ethics at the CUNY graduate school of journalism in 2025! Previously I taught a class about how to listen at The New School & narrative audio to grad students at NYU, where I also got my M.A. in Latin American Studies and Journalism.
Story Editing
For almost a year, I’ve had the joy of editing an in-depth 8-part narrative audio documentary called Afterlives, about the life of legendary LGBTQ+ activist and icon Marsha P. Johnson. Hosted by the incomparable Raquel Willis, it has been the honor of a lifetime.
I’ve loved spending time deep in the archives and listening to queer elders — especially as anti-trans rhetoric echoes louder and louder. I’m so proud of this show and I hope you listen!
Reporting
I’ve loved reporting a few episodes of NPR’s Life Kit lately. It’s fun because I look at something I want to improve about my own life, and then I get to share knowledge from experts with a much larger audience. My story about how to support a friend who is grieving was Life Kit’s #3 most read story of the year on NPR’s website!
